Halloween costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils. Costumes are also based on themes other than traditional horror, such as those of characters from television shows, movies and other pop culture icons. 

According to The National Retail Federation’s (NRF) 2007 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey , the top Halloween costumes for children in the United States are:

1. Princess
2. Spider-Man
3. Witch
4. Disney Princess
5. Star Wars Character

Halloween in Sweden

In Sweden Halloween is celebrated the same day the Church of Sweden celebrates All Saints day, the first Saturday in November. This is due to a misunderstanding when the retail business organizations introduced Halloween in the mid-1990s.

Christians and christian organizations do not like this connection and very few Swedes are aware that Halloween in the English-speaking countries is a non-Christian holiday celebrated October 31.
